Scientific name:
Kinixys spekii
Identification:
Up to 22cm. Slightly domed shell is yellow or tan , with darker making and rounded at the back with a hinge at the back of the carapace.
Habitat:
Dry to moist savanna and coastal thicket, from the sea level to nearly 1600m altitude
Behaviour:
Diurnal , most active during rainy season. Spends the night in holes, in rock cracks or under boulders.
Food:
Omnivorous. Eating plants, invertebrates and carrion.
Reproduction:
Male fight in the breeding season. Lays two to four eggs, roughly 3cm diameter.
