Scientific name:
Trionyx triunguis
Identification:
Up to 90 cm. A big, fat, soft - shelled water turtle, without scales, with a long tubular nose.
Habitat:
Rivers and lakes, known from lake Turkana, lake Albert and white nile downstream from Murchison falls. Probably in the Daua River.
Behaviour:
Acquatic, apparently active by day, backs on shorelines. Sometimes partially buries itself in mud. Can respire partially through skin.
Food:
Eat fish, frogs and aquatic invertebrates.
Reproduction:
They lays 25 - 100 eggs.
